I just finished my second week of the 30 day Paleo challenge!
Just to remind you I am not eating any dairy, grains, legumes, or sugar. This means no cereals, yogurt, milk, cheese, cupcakes, cookies, ice cream, beans, lentils, breads, candy...etc.
I AM eating lots of veggies, some fruit, nuts, chicken, beef, fish and TONS of eggs! The only fat I have been eating is extra virgin olive oil and that is what I cook with.
I still feel great. I haven't had much of any cravings except for yesterday. Yesterday I woke up and I had started my period (sorry if that is too much information for you) but yesterday I was having the worst cravings ever...gummy bears, candy, popcorn. I couldn't stop thinking about eating junk, I am sure the reason for the cravings was because of my monthly visitor! Robby makes the boys homemade pizzas and we made some for dinner yesterday and I ended up cheating on my diet and ate a slice. I felt horrible afterward mostly disappointed because I had been doing so good and then I gave in. That is it though, no other cheating!
My family is also doing pretty well. Like I said I have been almost 100% perfect, my kids are about 75% following the diet and Robby is around 50%! Not too bad but not where I want them to be. I would like my whole family to eventually be eating 90-100% Paleo food.
You're also getting some good fats from your meats as well :) I'd throw in some avocados in there too! I eat at least 1/2 of one a day, sometimes a whole one!! Haha...Good fats :) Your body WANTS fat, it's is preferred fuel source, so don't shy away from using coconut oil either (it can be pricey but we've found the Nutiva brand on Amazon for a good deal). Glad you're doing well. Have you been watching any of the Paleo Summit videos? So good..if you get a free hour, try and catch one: http://paleosummit.com/schedule/
ReplyDeleteWay to go, girl!
Meagan, I think I have watched all of the videos and am enjoying them. I use to cook with coconut oil and I know how great it is I just haven't had a chance to get to the store yet! For some reason I haven't been craving avocados at all, I ate one the other day it must have not been that good because it has turned me completely off!
ReplyDeleteps thanks for the side list of all the paleo friendly websites, i really like the "Paleo Parents" one...just started browsing it. :)
